Oh What Do You Do in the Summer Time...

Pasco, Washington

On July 12th Trent's Grandpa, Robert L'Etrenne Andelin, passed away at age 90. Although his death didn't come as a complete surprise, it did come sooner than we had expected. We had hoped to make a trip to see him before he returned Home so Logan could meet his Great Grandpa, but sadly we let too many of the insignificant things of life and the inconveniences of traveling with a baby get in the way of that trip. A decision I will always regret. Grandpa Andelin was an incredible man. He magnified the role of the Patriarch of the Andelin Family in every way! (Not to mention the service he provided as a Stake Patriarch for many many years.) Nearly every single one of his 60 grandchildren and 80 great-grand children were in attendance at his funeral. They traveled from New York, Virginia, Utah, Idaho, California, and Washington and each one of them had a very personal relationship with their grandpa. For the past 40+ years there has been an Andelin Family Reunion and at each reunion Grandpa would have a "heart to heart" interview with his grandchildren. They would discuss what was going on in their lives, their goals, and if they were on track for a mission and Temple marriage. Just by the way Trent talks about his interviews with Grandpa I know he absolutely cherished that time with him. Grandpa and Grandma made it a priority to be in attendance at all of their grand children's weddings, missionary farewells/homecomings, baptisms, and other special events. They were quite the travelers in their Toyota Prius braving winter storms and summer heat...at age 90 I think it made us all a little nervous to know they were out on the roads so much! Grandpa also sent out a monthly email to all of the family keeping us up to date on their travels, house repairs, political opinions, church service, and other such adventures. Being new to the family I was always shocked with Grandpa's boldness in sharing his opinions. We will miss you Grandpa!

Visiting Grandma

It was nice to spend some time with Grandma Andelin. We hope to make the drive to see her more often. While in the home we all got a giggle and appreciation for how orderly Grandpa was. In his closet he had a label for and on everything! Suit jackets, white shirts, collar shirts, slacks, church pants, walking shoes, church shoes, work shoes, etc...the same set up in his office...everything had its place.

The Hotel Bed

There is something about the crisp white sheets of a hotel bed that make tummy time FUN!!! Logan had a blast hanging out on the bed in his diaper.
